WASTE WATER FOR HEAVY METALS

The conventional method for treating heavy metals in waste water is to adjust the pH to alkali, add coagulant and clarified. The clarified liquor is processed using ultra-filtration or reverse osmosis to the required specification and recycled or discharge. The process is complex, occupied large land area and usually requires high investment. Excess dosing of coagulant also results in plugging of the ultra-filtration or RO membrane.  

    Shanghai U-Lum’s Expanded PTFE Cross-Flow Membrane Filtration Technology does not required clarifier, and no coagulant is needed. The alkaline waste water is directly filtered in the ePTFE Cross-flow Membrane Filter to achieve < 1 mg/L of suspended solids. The filtered brine can then be delivered directly to the RO unit, simplifying the process, with less land area required and lower investment. The ePTFE Membrane Filter also provides protection for the downstream RO unit.
